Health Alert: Cyclosporiasis is here 7-16-26

A nationwide outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis (cyclosporiasis) has recently been reported across multiple states. It's passed by eating unclean food. Please wash your vegetable and fruits really well and try to avoid pre-packated lettuce, spinage, etc. unless you are cooking (the spinage).

For LGBTQ (men) community:

Prevention and Self-Care

• Avoid sexual contact (especially oral-anal contact) while you have diarrhea, and for at least two weeks after your symptoms have fully stopped.

• Wash thoroughly with soap and water before and after sex and handling sex toys.

• Food safety: Due to the summer parasite outbreak, wash all fresh produce thoroughly or cook it whenever possible.

Please note that due to the corrupt and unprofessional nature of our current administration we as a population at large are extremely vulnerable. Do not count on the government for help with this one (Trump has fired all helpful health (& otherwise) officials! Be Your Own advocate.

Yes there is a test for this Cyclospora:

But it requires a specific stool test. Standard routine stool tests do not check for it. The parasite is diagnosed in one of two ways:

• Gastrointestinal PCR Panel: A molecular stool test that detects the parasite’s DNA.

• Specialized Stool Microscopy: A microscopic examination of the stool using special stains (such as a modified acid-fast stain) or UV autofluorescence. 

MEN: be especially cautious in your oral anal sexual contact! (Eagle patrons especially beware!)
